Event Type

The equestrian statue of Sir Mark Cubbon (1785–1861), sculpted by the renowned artist Carlo Marochetti and unveiled in 1866, commemorates the longest-serving Commissioner of Mysore under the East India Company.

Originally installed near the High Court of Karnataka, the bronze statue was relocated in 2020 to Cubbon Park, beside the historic Bandstand, to make it more accessible to the public. The work not only recalls Bengaluru’s colonial history but also invites reflection on the city’s evolving cultural and civic identity.
